Everyone knows Yelp Eat24 has tons of drool-worthy food pics on our app and website. That’s because our amazing customers and restaurant owners are always sending us sexy photos. You know, like these gorgeous wings:
But the truth is, not all the photos people send us are good. In fact, sometimes they’re bad. As in, so bad not even a filter and 17 hours of Photoshopping can save them.
We take food photography very seriously, so we’ve gathered some of the worst photos we’ve ever received for your viewing consideration. Think of it as a Scared Straight Program for ugly food. Please be warned though, the following content is quite graphic.
1.Tuna Sad-wich
Alternatively, this could be titled “Took my 3 week old sandwich to the basement for a photo shoot and here’s what happened.”
2. Mystery Meal
We’re guessing this is a side salad…but what is the glossy black object in the corner? More importantly, where did it come from and will it try to murder us while we sleep?
3. It’s…Alive?
This photo is here to remind you that sometimes it’s just you, your thoughts, and a completely terrifying photo of seaweed!
4. Dinner On Elm Street
Does this make you think about how life’s too short to eat slimy stir-fried peppers? Cuz that’s how we felt.
5. Sad Fries Are Sad
Given the choice between this and a salad, we choose salad. And we never choose salad.
6. Breakfast Of Champions
It’s possible this was a delicious breakfast. It’s too bad the kind of hangover that must have preceded it was so sensitive to light the photographer had to sit in the dark to take it. But then again, it’s important for art to reflect life.
7. NOFX
The shadows/vignette effects on this picture are cool because they make the meal seem mysterious. And the pink cow topper? That’s a little thing called class.
8. The Blob
And this photo of something covered in brown sauce? It reminds us that it’s important to slow down sometimes (and maybe not drink so much).
9. Burrito Surprise
But there’s hope. This burrito almost looks good…
…Until you realize there’s a flippin’ owl in it!
Ok, just kidding. But in all seriousness, the worst photos we get involve trying to cook at home. Like this photograph, which is a cry for help if we ever saw one.
10. Cooking Is The Worst
Our point is, bad food photography is no laughing matter. Seriously, sorry about all these ugly food photos. Here’s a photograph of something delicious from our app to make up for it.
Thank you for your attention. Now go find something delicious to eat on our mostly drool-worthy app and be sure to take a flattering photo of it.
I’m pretty sure #2 is blood pudding, which sounds like it should be an urban legend but isn’t. 😉
I’m pretty sure that’s how my onion rungs looked .With no condiments and no cream and sugar for the coffee. Ruined the whole meal ????
